Battahl is the kingdom of Beastrens in Dragon’s Dogma 2, first revealed in the trailer released by Capcom in May 25th of 2023. If you’re looking to enter Battahl, there are multiple ways available to you.

Are you wondering how to get to Battahl? Then keep on reading! Here are three ways to get to Battahl.

4 Ways to Get in Battahl, the kingdom of beastrens

  1. Through the Checkpoint Rest Town with an Entry Permit.
  2. Through the Checkpoint Rest Town without an Entry Permit.
  3. Follow the River near the Checkpoint Rest Town.
  4. Through the Guerco Cavern.

Your first way of getting into Battahl is through the gate in the Checkpoint Rest Town with an Entry Permit. To reach Battahl through the Checkpoint Rest Town and secure an Entry Permit, you have to consider your character’s race and do some other tasks first.

To obtain a Border Entry Permit, complete the main story quests involving Captain Brant, such as “Monster Culling,” “The Caged Magistrate,” “Disa’s Plot,” and “Feast of Deception.” After completing all these, you will be given the Border Entry Permit to get through Battahl.

However, you can’t just walk up to the guard with the permit and get in Battahl if you’re human. You’ll first need a Beastren Mask to bypass the gate’s security. If your character is a Beastren, passing through the gate is straightforward and you won’t need the extra steps below.

For human characters, visit Ibrahim’s Scrap Store in Checkpoint Rest Town to purchase a Beastren Mask. Ibrahim’s Scrap Store can be found in the south-west area of the Checkpoint Rest Town.

The Beastren Mask is worth 8700G so be sure to bring this amount when approaching Ibrahim. You can also buy a Wakestone Shard worth 5000G and a fake Ferrystone (called Ferristone) for 8000G. Don’t be like me and mindlessly buy the Ferristone, you can’t use that at all. If you keep on getting jailed, a Makeshift Gaol Key worth 3000G can also be bought here.

Once you’ve bought the Beastren Mask, equip the mask, approach the gate at Checkpoint Rest Town, and present your Border Entry Permit to the guard. The gate will be opened and you are now free to get in Battahl!

Remember, re-equip the Beastren Mask if you plan to return through the gate later, regardless if you are going to Vermund from Battahl or vice-versa.

If you want to enter Battahl early without an entry permit, it’s entirely possible. You can get in Battahl without an entry permit by sneaking past the guard stationed at the gate and running through once it’s opened. This can be done by waiting for the oxcart that regularly passes through the border, hiding beside the cart on the opposite side of the guard, and timing your run through the gate when it is opened.

This option is possible early in the game and allows you to reach Battahl even with a low level. However, dealing with the monsters might prove challenging since your level and equipment are likely below the recommended for entry.

Moreover, sneaking past the border gate and successfully crossing into Battahl will temporarily make the other guards on the Battahl side hostile toward you. You’ll need to outrun them and keep a certain distance to lose their aggro.

You can go down the river outside of the Checkpoint Rest Town and follow it to the west to get in Battahl.
You can go down the river outside of the Checkpoint Rest Town and follow it to the west.

You can choose to follow the river near Checkpoint Rest Town. Head east outside of Checkpoint Rest Town and descend the slope along the riverbank. Continue following the river as it flows westward. Eventually, you’ll come across a small cavern entrance at the end of the river. Enter through this entrance to proceed.

Upon entering the cavern, you’ll encounter numerous Saurians. Fight your way through them and ascend the rocks near the end of the cavern to find the path to Battahl. If done correctly, you will reach a grassy hilltop. If you simply traverse the cavern’s bottom floor, you’ll reach a dead-end near a body of water.

Keep moving forward until you come across a tree log serving as a bridge and eventually an actual rope bridge. Be careful when walking on the rope bridge as there will be wolves waiting for you at the other end.

Nearby, there’s a fire pit where you can rest and set up camp along with a chest containing a bow named the Darkening Storm beside the campfire.

Despite its description, the Darkening Storm does not possess any special effects nor does it deal extra damage against griffins. Its high Strike Strength and Knockdown Power are what make it particularly effective against griffins.

Quick tip: Look at your map constantly if you think you are lost.

Consult your map and find traces of paths if you are unsure of where you are going. The map will also always update nearby locations so use it constantly.

Proceed to the other side of the bridge and confront the wolves. Continue along the right path until you reach the end, where you’ll find a cavern-like entrance. Be cautious, as a Cyclops is lying in wait to ambush you beside the entrance, and it will reveal itself by breaking a large rock.

As you enter the cavern-like entrance, you’ll notice your lantern doesn’t work due to the downpour of water. Additionally, you might realize the area isn’t a cavern but rather a misty valley. The mist is very heavy and will limit your vision, so be vigilant. Look out for large boulders that may roll down from the right side of the valley, a Minotaur, and a Chimera.

In the misty valley, hidden behind a large rock, lies a closed-off named location. You will most likely find it on the left side of the valley. Upon discovery, breaking the large rock blocking the path reveals a path towards the Frontier Shrine. Within this area, you may also come across a Seeker’s Token, which you can pick up.

The last way to get into Battahl is through the Guerco Cavern. The Guerco Cavern is a, well, cavern that connects from Vermund to Battahl. The Vermund side entrance can be found east from The Bridge of Theodracus the Second, south from the Misty Marsh, and west from Checkpoint Rest Town.

In here, you will encounter Saurians and Hobgoblins until you reach a mountainside overlooking the waters between Vermund and Battahl.

You will also eventually find a broken Riftstone and a ruined village with bandits. If you go left when exiting from the Battahl side of Guerco Cavern, you can meet the Dragonforged while heading straightforward will lead you to Bakbattahl, the capital city of the nation of Beastrens.
