After two months of playing The Outer Worlds, I’ve learned some valuable tips that I wish I knew earlier. For beginners or those interested in the game, here are five beginner tips for new players.
I have been playing The Outer Worlds for roughly the past two months, and during my time with the game, I keep on discovering things that I wish I had known from the beginning.
So, to help fellow beginners or gamers who are interested in The Outer Worlds, here are five beginner tips for you.
Be Creative with your Skills.

Your skill points matter, but don’t worry, you can always reset or respec them whenever you want. This flexibility allows you to experiment with various strategies and actions, keeping the gameplay fresh and exciting.
It’s also worth noting that different stat allocations also unlock different dialogue options, adding depth to your interactions within The Outer Worlds. So, imagine the possibilities when you intentionally lower your character’s intelligence and dialogue skills—brace yourself for some hilarious moments as you embrace your inner neanderthal and find alternative ways to communicate.
Try out ALL WEAPONS.

You might feel the need to stick to weapons that feel and sound familiar to you such as the light machine guns and machine guns, but there are more weapons for you to try that offer you unique and intriguing experiences such as the Shrink Ray, Storm Cannon, Sentry Sabre, Plasma Knife and more.
Don’t limit yourself; explore the possibilities.
Aside from the fun sounds and visuals each gun provides, switching weapons is also important as some enemies are weaker to certain damage types. For instance, Humans are vulnerable to Plasma damage, while Robots are weak against Shock.

There is more stuff about damage-type weaknesses that you can easily discover by searching the internet, but where’s the fun in that? Instead, I suggest you find it out yourself.
Explore! Explore! Explore!
There are tons of interesting areas that can be easily missed in the different worlds of Outer Worlds. Almost every nook and cranny has something to be found; either items that can be sold, weapons that can be reused, or tiny set pieces that tell a little bit of story of the area.

Also, take your time to take in the wondrous views you will constantly find when travelling across the space colony. Just be sure to secure your surroundings as space aliens or marauders might be lurking around to catch you unguarded.

Sell stuff you don’t need.
Most of the items you will find are ALWAYS replaceable, even weapons. Found a cool Pulse rifle that deals 47 damage on each hit? Guess what, you will find five more of those from Marauders if you walk 20 meters more.

The Outer Worlds gives you various opportunities to try out stuff, but more importantly, gain money. If you ever find yourself in some money trouble, always sell all the junk in your inventory of have a quick go around at any location like Terra 2 to gather some trash on the ground or in enemy pockets.
Moreso, not selling stuff and just letting trash lie on your inventory just takes up weight and space you could have used for more trash to sell.
If words don’t work, guns can do the talking.

So, just a fun fact on The Outer Worlds. The Outer Worlds’ developers, Obsidian Entertainment, also created Fallout: New Vegas and Neverwinter Nights 2.
As such, certain gameplay elements and structures call back to those games such as dialogue choices, stat checks, and multiple story options. This is because The Outer Worlds, just like the previous 2 games, are rooted in tabletop game elements which try to let you express your abundant, or lack thereof, creativity and critical thinking.

However, if you are too lazy to read through dialogue or parse through multiple choices, you can always use your guns to progress the story. The Outer Worlds is an excellent game to actually let your guns do the talking.
