When speaking with Ser Brant after finishing An Unsettling Encounter, a new dialogue option shows up. Choosing “Tell me of the coronation” will trigger the next quest, Feast of Deception. Yet before Ser Brant actually gives you the next quest, he first asks if you are ready to move on from Vermund.
Saying you are ready will progress the next sequence of the quest. Additionally, you will need to wear a formal attire: Courtly Breeches and Courtly Tunic. Not wearing these two will make him take notice of it and tell you to wear them.
Ser Brant tells you to attend the coronation of the Sovran. Once you’ve told Ser Brant you are ready, and you are wearing the correct attire, a cutscene will play out with you, Ser Brant, and your Pawn walking toward Vernworth Castle.

However, your plan comes to a halt once your Pawn starts keeling over. Your pawn will tell you that a voice is speaking in their head, seemingly taking control over them.
You, Ser Brant, and your Pawn walk away and abandon the plan. Meanwhile, the coronation proceeds, and the false Arisen is seen seated on the throne while a couple of pawns kneel in front of him. From afar is Sven, watching over the incident.
The game cuts back to you and Ser Brant at the balcony of Stardrop Inn, talking about what happened. He informs you what Sven saw and tells you that Sven took notice of a necklace the false Arisen was wearing.
They assume that this is the Godsway and that it has the power to take control over pawns. Ser Brant then suggests you wait as he talks to the agent you captured in the Arisen’s Shadow quest. At the end of the conversation, you are back in control of your character once again. Let a few days pass by and return to Ser Brant.
Consult with Ser Brant. After at least one night has passed, return to Ser Brant to talk about the new plans. From the agent Ser Brant interrogated, it seems that you will have to proceed to Battahl to learn more about the Godsway and how to undo it.
However, “official dealings ‘twixt Vermund and Battahl are suspended,” so the main challenge is finding a way to get to Battahl. Fortunately, Ser Brant found an Entry permit held by the agent in prison.
Inspecting the item also shows that it is called the Border Entry Permit. It is an item that allows its bearer to “pass through the checkpoint on the Vermund-Battahl border.” Ser Brant also informs you of an Oracle in Battahl who may aid us in our infiltration to discovering the Godsway.
The conversation ends and marks the end of the Feast of Deception quest.
