Tolled to Rest is a side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The quest begins when you first pass through the east path entrance of the Ancient Battlegrounds.
Tolled to Rest WALKTHROUGH

When you first walk through the east path into the Ancient Battlegrounds, you might encounter a man being attacked by harpies and wolves.
A quest named Tolled to Rest immediately starts, asking you to help him out.
Once you’ve eliminated all the harpies and wolves, the man will thank you. He introduces himself as Oskar and he asks for your company to go atop the cenopath in the Ancient Battlegrounds as part of his duty.
You can choose to accept the quest or decline it.
Accepting the quest will officially trigger the Tolled to Rest quest. You will now have to escort Oskar, the man you just saved, to his destination.

Keep following Oskar and ensure he is safe from any enemies you encounter. You might see a Cyclops and a Drake fighting afar, but don’t worry. They will most likely fight far away enough that you and Oskar won’t get harmed. Most likely.
When you first enter the castle, you will be met by a skeleton mage and a couple of melee-ranged skeleton mobs. Defeat them, and Oskar will proceed deeper into the castle, going left from the entrance.
Keep following Oskar through the spiral staircase and up a ladder. He’ll move forward and down another ladder, where you will encounter more skeleton enemies.

Defeat them and proceed deeper into the castle.
Oskar will eventually lead you to a room with a bell. Assuming that you haven’t reached this area earlier in your playthrough and stolen it, he will immediately go ahead and ring the bell.
This marks the end of Tolled to Rest.
Oskar will also give you a key, allowing you to access a room in the Ancient Battlegrounds castle which contains valuable loot.
In the case where you stole the tome, Oskar will take notice of the missing item and request that you find it. He will stay beside the bell until you deliver it.
You can either give Oskar a Death Nation’s Knell or a forgery of it, to which he will notice that nothing happens if you give him the latter. Still, this will mark the end of the quest.
