Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge is a side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. It comes right after the quest Dulled Steel, Cold Forge, when you return to Sara after a few days’ time.
Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge WALKTHROUGH
After completing the Dulled Steel, Cold Forge quest, return to Sara to ask about the Dulled Regalia Sword. When you first return to her, she tells you that no progress has been made yet. This is due to the pattern on the blade. Brokkr will take notice of this and tell Sara that the pattern is work of a blazehammer, a special blacksmithing technique.
Sara then explains that blazehammer is a technique where the hammer used for forging the sword is dipped into magma to reach extreme temperature, thus making it a hardly used technique.
Return to Sara at least a day after and find her missing. Talk to Brokkr.
Find Sara
Speaking with Brokkr, he will tell you Sara must have gone to the mountain base cave on the Volcanic Island. Brokkr then tells you to take responsibility and track her down to make sure she is alright.
Now, make your way to the mountain base cave on the Volcanic Island. On your way, you will encounter different monsters from Venin Harpies and Succubi to Hobgoblins and Bandits. So, be prepared.
Exploring The Mountain Base Cave
Once you reach the Mountain Base Cave, go inside and explore the area thoroughly. Defeat all the monsters and destroy all destructible walls and floors before approaching Sara at the end of the cave.
If you have done all the things said above, speak to Sara who is at the end of the cave. The room Sara is in has the skeleton of a dragon with lava pouring out of its ribcage.
Come close to Sara, and she will be surprised that you are there. Then, she immediately tells you that both of you have to leave the cave with the hammer. What Sara has is a hammer dipped in magma, as said beforehand.
Get Sara out of the cave before the hammer loses its heat!
Take too long, and the hammer will run cold, and you will fail the mission. Additionally, you can see the state of the hammer by looking at the hammerhead.
If the hammer starts to lose its orange color, it means the hammer is losing more and more of its heat. Sara will also speak whenever the hammer reaches certain points of coldness.
Use all the shortcuts you found along the way and avoid monsters if you missed any. You can choose to carry Sara if she is stuck or is taking too long.
Return to the Smithy
Once you reach the cave entrance, Sara will thank you and leave to return to Brokkr’s Smithy.
Do the same and return to Brokkr’s Smithy in Bakbattahl.
When you return to Brokkr’s Smithy, Sara will greet you and you will hear Brokkr calling out to Sara. Sara apologizes to Brokkr, but he waves it off and immediately goes to work as the hammer is running out of heat. With the blazehammer work done and Sara showing that she has the guts to restore the Dulled Regalia Sword, Brokkr declares that Sara is fit to carry on his techniques and helps her with restoring the sword.
The game will fade to black with text saying several hours have passed, then it returns to Sara as she gives you the Restored Regalia Sword. She thanks you for entrusting the sword to her and expresses her joy of finally becoming a true blacksmith.
Now, return to Vernworth and report back to Roman.
Report back to Roman
Roman can be found in the Palace Grounds in Vernworth Castle. Talk to him, and he will be surprised with the Restored Regalia Sword. He tells you that it means more than history to him and that he wants you to give his thanks to the blacksmith who repaired it.
The quest Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge officially ends here, and Roman takes the Restored Regalia Sword back with him.
Alternate Outcomes
If you fail to get Sara out before the hammer gets cold, she will give up on restoring the Dulled Regalia Sword. You can also give Roman a forgery of the Restored Regalia Sword.
