Seat of Sovran is the fourth Main Quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The quest starts when Gregor asks you to come to Vernworth in front of Melve’s gate entrance.
Seat of Sovran Walkthrough
The Seat of the Sovran starts when Gregor asks you to come to Vernworth in front of Melve’s gate entrance. He gives you the Missive of the Captain to show to the guard at Vernworth’s entrance. This quest go hand in hand with the In Dragon’s Wake quest.
Travel to Vernworth from Melve, either on your own or with Gregor.

When you approach the gate entrance of Vernworth, a guard will stop you, asking for your entry permit. Choose the Missive of the Captain to get in.
Following your conversation with Ser Brant, which covers how you lost your identity and ended up in the Excavation Site, you discover that Queen Regent Disa orchestrated the events leading up to your awakening at the Exacavation Site.
The Queen Regent also helped create a false Arisen to take on the role of Sovran and govern Vernworth. This is to keep her power in Vernworth through the false Arisen.
The Missive of the Captain is missing.
If you lost the Missive of the Captain item, you can get in Vernworth through the Slums, west of Vernworth’s entrance.
Once you approach the inner walls of Vernworth, a guard will stop you and accuse you of being a burglar. This leads you to the same conversation with Ser Brant as the other option, but you can skip the part where you have to deliver the entry permit..
After you manage to convince the guard to let you in or sneak in Vernworth, a man named Ser Brant will take you to his office to remove any suspiscions on you. If you helped Gregor along the way, Ser Brant will also be told that you helped protect his men.
Ser Brant advises you to rebuild your reputation to approach the Queen Regent and reclaim your rightful throne. He also dispels any suspicions surrounding you, granting you the freedom to move around Vernworth.
What is a Sovran?
A Sovran is a title bestowed upon the ruler of Vernworth, and traditionally, it is granted to the Arisen.
What is a Queen Regent?
A Queen Regent is an official appointed to temporarily replace the queen. Within the Dragon’s Dogma 2’s context, the queen regent holds the position of head of the Consul.
The Consul in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an authoritative body tasked with temporarily ruling Vernworth in the absence of a Sovran. The Consul is headed by the Queen Regent.
Leaving the office, you are bumped into by a Vernworth citizen who apologizes and promptly flees. A pursuing guard appears right after and questions you about the citizen’s whereabouts.

You can choose to lie or tell the truth to the guard.
If you lie, the citizen later thanks you for aiding his escape. If you tell the truth, there is no further interaction with the runaway citizen.
Regardless of your choice, your next task is to meet Ser Brant at the tavern (located on the second floor of the Stardrop Inn) at night to discuss your plans for rebuilding your reputation.
At night, speak to Ser Brant who is leaning over the bar counter, who then moves the conversation to a nearby balcony.
Here, he reiterates his plans and assigns you three tasks to accomplish. Selecting the middle option, “Tell me of the Queen Regent,” concludes the Seat of Sovran quest and initiates the next main quest, The Cage Magistrate.
