The Stolen Throne is a Main Quest that you will receive after completing the Monster Culling quest and then talking to Ser Brant in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
THE STOLEN THRONE walkthrough
Choose “Tell me about the Masquerade.”
Ser Brant informs you about the false sovereign, who is supposedly “recovering from his battle wounds.” Consequently, masquerades have been organized in the palace lately “in honor of his supposed valor.” At this point, Ser Brant remains unaware of the identity of the false sovereign.
Therefore, Ser Brant tasks you with joining the masquerade to catch “a glimpse into the man behind the mask.”
Accepting Brant’s request initiates The Stolen Throne quest.
He mentions that there are sentries posted at the masquerades, but some are under his command, so he will try to ease the security for the Arisen to sneak inside. However, you will need a mask to disguise yourself as an invitee. He then provides you with an “Eventide Mask,” which you must wear before entering the Palace for the masquerade. He also advises you to dress appropriately, meaning you will need noble clothing as well.
Approach the false Sovran.
Now, your quest objective is to “Approach the false Sovran.”
Wait until nighttime and go to Vernworth Castle. Walk in the Palace Grounds, and your pawns will wait by the entrance. Move ahead to the right side of the palace grounds to reach Vernworth Hall.
The guard in front will verify your attendance, but this should cause you no worries.
Enter Vernworth Hall and walk forward until you reach the main dance floor. A cutscene should play out, showing a man walking by the left hallway to the backrooms and then to the left path.
Follow the footsteps of the man in the cutscene, but you may notice that the man is nowhere to be found in the two rooms in the back of Vernworth Hall.
Look closely at the wall in between the two backroom doors to find a suspiciously looking border that resembles a doorway.
Push onward the wall-shaped doorway to reveal that it is a hidden passage.
You found a hidden passage.
Move forward through the double doors, then go right along the castle walls.
Enter the doorway with red curtains, and a cutscene will play out.
A mysterious woman in a red dress catches you snooping around but conveniently saves you when guards come looking for a suspicious man who has entered Vernworth Castle. After throwing off the guards, she shows you a hole in the wall where she says you’ll find what you are looking for.
You briefly take back control in a first-person view, peeping at the false Sovran messing around with two courtesans. The Queen Regent and a man barge in and scold the false Sovran.
The false Sovran walks outside, leaving the room to the other two occupants. The man reveals himself to be Lord Phaseus.
The mysterious woman then talks with you and ponders on who the true Arisen is, now that she discovers that the man in the room was a false Arisen. Afterwards, she once again declares that she will help you escape.
The woman is revealed to be named Wilhelmina and leaves you outside her room in the Rose Chateau Borderlie.
Report Back to Ser Brant.
Outside Wilhelmina’s Room, you were given a Myrmecoleon Card so that you can freely enter and exit the Rose Chateau Borderlie at your pleasure.
Now, return to Ser Brant and report your findings. Talking to him about what happened will officially end The Stolen Throne quest. Now, Ser Brant knows that the False Sovran is just Disa’s puppet and she is working with a man named Lord Phaseus from Battahl.
