A Beggar’s Tale is a side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. When walking in the Merchant Quarter, a random civilian may start speaking to you about a beggar. This marks the A Beggar’s Tale quest.
A Beggar’s Tale WALKTHROUGH

When walking in the Merchant Quarter, a random civilian may start speaking to you about a beggar he is suspicious about. The beggar in question is the man by the fountain telling stories.
After the conversation ends, the quest A Beggar’s Tale officially starts and your first quest objective says “Keep an eye on the beggar.”
Speaking to the beggar, whose name is Albert, you can give him 100 G. However, giving him gold does not progress the quest any further. Instead, wait until the sun is setting and seek him out at the fountain.
You can give Albert 100 G three times, but this is simply a waste of gold, as mentioned before. So simply wait until the sun is setting.

Time this correctly, and you will see Albert walking away from his usual spot. Follow Albert until he stops by the slum’s tavern (Walter’s Tavern). Make sure to stand close enough so a short cutscene will play.
At Walter’s Tavern, it seems like Albert has returned to his wife, Celina, to spend some time with her. After the short cutscene ends, wait until Albert walks away again.
Talking to either Celina or Albert will give you nothing quest-related. It will also not give you special interactions with other NPCs.
This will take some time, so be sure to do other things while waiting. If you want to do something else in the game, be sure to return before it gets dark.

Once the sun fully sets, Albert will leave the tavern and walk out of the Slums. Keep following him until he reaches a certain house and goes in.
The house Albert will be going into is one behind Mildred’s Home. Once Albert enters the house, he will lock the door so you can’t follow him inside. Instead, just wait for him outside the house. It will take some time, but be patient.
Once Albert leaves, go inside the house and pick up an item on the far right of the room. It is a Beggar’s Garb.
If you’re quick enough, you can follow Albert to where he is headed. As it turns out, he comes home to a house in the Noble Quarter at night.
If you picked up the Beggar’s Garb, the quest will update and two markers will show up on the map. One at the house in the Noble Quarter, and the other at Walter’s Tavern. Your new objective is to give the Beggar’s Garb to one of the people located in each marker.
Give Celina the Beggar’s Garb
Going to Walter’s Tavern allows you to give the Beggar’s Garb to Celina, Albert’s wife while living a life as a beggar. Giving the Beggar’s Garb to Celina will put her in great sadness.
A day after giving the quest item to her, go to the house where you found the Beggar’s Garb in the Common Quarter. There, a guard will tell you that Albert has been stabbed from behind and Celina seems to have taken her own life afterwards.
This is possibly the worst outcome for this quest so feel free to reload from your last inn save to pick the other choices.
Give Hilda the Beggar’s Garb
Going to Baldwin’s Estate allows you to give the Beggar’s Garb to Hilda, Albert’s wife while living a life as a noble. Giving the Beggar’s Garb to Hilda will let her know of Albert’s shenanigans.
Wait for the next day after giving the quest item to her and she will tell you that Albert has been “set straight.” You may see Albert looking over their home’s balcony.
Make Hilda and Celina meet
Additionally, an extra interaction between Celina, Albert, and Hilda can occur if you bring Celina to the Baldwin’s Estate.
Celina and Hilda will be confused with what’s happening while Albert will be in despair. The two women will then fight one another until they both get tired. Afterwards, the screen will fade to black briefly and Celina disappears.
If you bring Albert to Celina, he will once again be in despair while Celina takes a doubtful look at the man in noble clothing in front of her. Albert will then run away back to his estate, while Celina chases after him. Once they reach the estate, Celina and Hilda will once again fight one another until Celina disappears.
Give Albert the Beggar’s Garb
The last option is that you can give the Beggar’s Garb to Albert. Giving the Beggar’s Garb to Albert will simply make him continue his dirty deeds. He then asks that you do not speak of the situation.
After choosing an option and playing out the story that comes after, the quest A Beggar’s Tale will officially be completed.
