Gift of the Bow is a side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The quest begins when you first approach Roderick’s Smithy and talk to the elf in front of the store.
Gift of the Bow Walkthrough
When you first get to Vernworth and walk near Roderick’s Smithy, you will see an elf standing in front of the shop.
Talking to the elf named Glyndwr, he informs you that he seems to have taken an interest in one of Roderick’s bows. He points out that the design of Roderick’s bows is different from the ones elves use.
While curious about the bows, Glyndwr insists that he has no interest in owning or buying one. The Gift of the Bow quest then starts, and the first objective is giving Glyndwr a bow.
If you already have a human-made bow, you can directly give it to Glyndwr on your first encounter. If you don’t, go buy one from Roderick’s Smithy or retrieve one from your storage and deliver it to Glyndwr.
Once the human-made bow is given, Glyndwr thanks you and takes notice of the details that separate it from the bows elves have made and designed.
One of Glyndwr’s findings about the bows is that the materials and focus of the two bows’ design are different.
Glyndwr then explains that he took an interest in the bow because he seeks to improve his bow skills, which seem to have been declining as of late. He then explains that he has to undergo an Elven custom called the Trial of Archery, which is supposedly done to prove the maturity of an elf.
After telling you about the trial, Glyndwr asks if you are interested in watching him train for the trial.
If you choose to accept, he can be found at some ruins above the Trevo Mine where he awaits your arrival. However, you will need a bow to complete his request, and for that, you need to be an Archer or a Magick Archer.
When you arrive at the marked location, you will see Glyndwr standing out in the open. Approach him to continue the quest.
Glyndwr talks to you and asks you to hit the targets by the waterfall. Hanging off the arches and pillars above the waterfall are the targets. Hit them with your bow and arrows.
After you hit the target at least once, Glyndwr talks to you about how the bows made by elves and humans are different. With this, you’ve helped him train for the Trial of Archery, and the quest ends. He rewards you with a Ring of Proximity in return.
