Shadowed Prayers is a side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The quest becomes available after completing the Nation of Lambent Flame then approaching Flamebearer Palace.
Shadowed Prayers WALKTHROUGH
Once you’ve completed the Nation of the Lambent Flame quest and made your way to Flamebearer Palace, Menella will approach you and inform you of an assassination attempt against the ruler of Battahl, Empress Nadinia.
Menella asks for your help in protecting Empress Nadinia from the assassin during the next supplication. Accepting her request immediately starts the Shadowed Prayers quest.
Go to Flamebearer Palace in the morning.
If you started the quest at noon or night, return to Flamebearer Palace the next morning.
Enter the Flamebearer Palace where Menella and another female Beastren named Irmhild are waiting for you. They await your aid in catching the assassin.
Apprehend the Assassin
After speaking with the two Beastren women, the game cuts to the supplication where a group of people are praying by the stairs while Empress Nadinia stands by the shrine.
You are then given an item called Bandit Bill of Arrest which shows the description of Empress Nadinia’s Assailant. Reading the item, you will find the description of the assailant as someone who “wears his hair tied back” and has a wound on his right arm from an attack.
Observe the people praying during the supplication and identify the suspect. Once identified, grab that person. If done correctly, you will proceed to the next sequence of the quest.

You apprehended the assassin
After catching the assassin, Empress Nadinia and Ser Menella express their gratitude in the Flamebearer Palace’s Empress’s Chambers. The quest Shadowed Prayers ends here.
