The Heel of History is a side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The quest starts when you get to the Vernworth Slums and talk to an old man in blue and donate food or coin to him twice.
The Heel of History Walkthrough
To trigger the quest A Place To Call Home, head to the Slums located east of Vernworth.
Once there, look for an old man wearing a blue coat who is asking for aid. Donate food or coins to him twice, and he will inform you that a boy named Malcolm is missing.
The old man, named Kendrick, requests that you locate Malcolm. He suggests asking the children in the area for any clues or details.
In the Slums of Vernworth, you’ll find three children you can speak to: Harvey, Aimee, and Rick.

Aimee, a young girl, reveals that she and Malcolm had plans to explore somewhere. Rick, a young boy with long hair, mentions that Malcolm was searching for something in the “rubble.” Harvey, a young boy with short hair, informs you that Malcolm had found something and was on the verge of making a discovery.
After speaking with all three children, report back to Kendrick about your findings. You can find him in the same place where you first encountered him, just outside The Gracious Hand.
Kendrick acknowledges what the children have told you and assumes Malcolm is trying to find a vault somewhere Nearby. He then urges you to follow him and leads you to a nearby tower ruins. He clears a pile of rubble blocking its entrance so you two can go in.
Now, enter the ruins.
The path is relatively straightforward but follow these directions to reach the Vault quickly: take the right path, descend to the second lower floor, move forward and left into the staircase going upstairs, then turn right once you reach the top of the stairs.
A cutscene will play where Malcolm and Kendrick are in discussion. Malcolm mentions finding something significant with many books.
Follow Malcolm’s lead until you reach the room he was referring to.
The quest concludes once you, along with Kendrick, witness what Malcolm had discovered, which is called The Gracious Hand’s Vaults.
You can also get out more easily through a blocked door which you can break open. Also, feel free to explore the rest of the area to fidn more loot. The Gracious Hand’s Vaults is also the location that Waldhar in the Caged Magistrate quest refers to when he asks you to tell him about a “place with plenty of tomes.”
