The Ornate Box is a side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The quest begins when you walk by Auriol’s store just beside Roderick’s Smithy in Vernworth.
The Ornate Box Walkthrough
When passing by Auriol’s store, just beside Roderick’s Smithy in Vernworth, you’ll be interrupted by a cutscene between him and a man dressed in red noble clothing arguing about an item.

It appears the man in noble attire wants to purchase one of Auriol’s products but lacks the gold to do so. Afterward, the nobleman walks away, initiating The Ornate Box quest.
If you choose to approach the nobleman named Sven, he confides in you about his troubles and desire to buy the ornate box from Auriol. You can inquire about his interest, to which he simply praises its “exceptional craftsmanship.” You have the option to lend him 1000G to make the purchase.
Should you give Sven the 1000G, he’ll express gratitude and proceed to buy the ornate box.
Alternatively, you can purchase the Ornate Box yourself and gift it to him. He’ll still express thanks and depart. If you’ve completed the Medicament Predicament quest, this method is more efficient, as you’ll have received a 20% discount at Auriol’s shop.
After Sven leaves, the game tells you to find him again in Vernworth after a few days.

Your next encounter with Sven will occur by the fountain in the Merchant Quarter. He’ll be seated there, waiting for you to approach.
Sven will engage in conversation when you come near him and will request that you sit down. Upon discussion, he’ll repay you part of what he owes and depart once more. Await his return at the fountain after a few days and repeat this process approximately three times.
The third meeting with Sven will be the final, where he’ll reward you with a set of noble clothes: the Courtly Tunic and Courtly Breeches. These can be advantageous in Dragon’s Dogma 2, as NPCs may interact differently based on your attire.
The noble clothes prove most useful when approaching Myrddin in his home or during the Feast of Deception quest.
